Controversial rapper DaBaby has shared that he sees the intense backlash to his 2021 homophobic rant as a “blessing in disguise” that taught him a valuable lesson.
The “Suge” rapper says he lost a whopping $200 million because of the disgusting comments he built about HIV and “sucking d***” while taking part in at Rolling Loud Competition.
Before he launched into the hateful rampage, DaBaby experienced been on the up and up, obtaining two Grammy nominations in 2020, collaborating with stars like Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, and Jack Harlow, and frequently hitting the Billboard Top rated 10.
But it all arrived tumbling down in July 2021, when the rapper introduced into a horrific homophobic rant. Shortly right after his opinions went viral, DaBaby was dropped by manner brand BoohooMAN, and he was taken out from the line-up at festivals like Lollapalooza, the Governors Ball Audio Competition, Parklife, and the iHeartRadio Audio Competition.

Now, the rapper states that the whole ordeal was a “blessing in disguise”, as it taught him to “sit [his] a** down”.
Talking to Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast this week, DaBaby mentioned: “In hindsight, that parked me.
“Who is to say wherever I would be mentally and spiritually had I not been pressured to sit my a** down and self-mirror? Since I even now did not sit down when it took position.
“I’m combating it like, ‘Hell nah, that ain’t what it is. I’m telling y’all that ain’t what it is.’ God knows I’m a great fighter, but he was like ‘Yeah, you a great fighter, but sit yo ass down.’”
The rapper, whose genuine identify is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, ongoing: “Even when I was receiving what I was acquiring, I experienced what I had in the bank, this and that, I wasn’t delighted as a man or woman. Suitable now I’m not tripping.
“I do not regret nearly anything that I completed been by way of. It feels so fantastic to be ready say that and indicate it.

“I completed likely claimed that before but I ain’t truly mean it. It’s like ‘…$200million, y’all robbed me.’ I really don’t truly feel like that.
“I seriously really feel like that is a blessing in disguise at this issue in my everyday living and I just arrived to that realisation in the past two months. I actually feel like I needed the time that I experienced to endure.
“That’s likely to make me way happier a human being and make me that a lot more of a man for the rest of my life.
DaBaby did concern an apology to enthusiasts shortly just after the incident took spot, indicating in a assertion to X (previously Twitter): “Anybody who completed at any time been [affected] by AIDS/HIV y’all obtained the correct to be upset, what I stated was insensitive even while I have no intentions of offending anybody. So my apologies.
“But the LGBT community… I ain’t trippin’ on y’all, you do you. Y’all business is y’all enterprise.”
