Here’s hoping when Tom Bergeron thinks about Simone Biles, he smiles.
The former “Dancing with the Stars” host not too long ago mirrored on an on-air clash he experienced with the Olympic gold medalist when she was participating on the actuality opposition display in 2017.
In the course of the notorious Time 24 instant, Biles did not conceal her annoyance when the “DWTS” judges generally bashed her Paso Doble overall performance with her dancing husband or wife, Sasha Farber.
In reaction to her unsatisfied facial expression, Bergeron advised Biles: “I was waiting around for you to smile at some of the compliments. You did not.”
Biles responded: “Smiling doesn’t get you gold medals.”

Bergeron spoke about Biles tumbling all above his moi on Cheryl Burke’s “Sex, Lies and Spray Tans” podcast Monday.
About 50 minutes into the episode, Bergeron said his remark to Biles about smiling was just one of the “rare periods when I spoke ahead of I thought” although he was hosting the are living present.
He went on to say that despite the fact that judges Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman ended up getting “harsh” in direction of Biles whilst critiquing her dance program, judge Carrie Ann Inaba was “very complimentary.”
He then went on to declare that when Tonioli and Goodman ended up piling on Biles, a “DWTS” producer explained in his earpiece, “‘Wow, she’s not even smiling at Carrie Ann’s compliments.’”
“So rather of saying, ‘Simone, what’s your response to the judges’ remarks? Now, Carrie Ann was complimentary and the other two fewer so.’ In its place of expressing that, I experienced that past assumed from [the producer] in my head, and I went, ‘I found you did not smile,’” Bergeron recalled. “Now what lady needs to hear a man say, ‘Hey, sweetheart, smile!’” he explained. “The second it came out of my mouth, I assumed, ‘Oh, you [idiot].’”
He admitted that Biles had the perfect retort to his remark.
“I was so thoroughly set in my place,” Bergeron explained, noting that Biles later on experienced a T-shirt produced with the phrase, “Smiling doesn’t win gold medals,” and Bergeron advised they take a photograph collectively with her sporting the shirt.
